Working With Us

Promoting Wellbeing and Independence with NDIS Occupational Therapy for Adults (18+)

We Walk Alongside as a Guide

Think of your OT as a tour guide who plans a path with you and maps out a route to get to a destination – your treatment goals.

Your time with us is about more than just a goal destination, it is about enjoying the journey together with the just-right amount of challenge to help you grow. There are many ways to get to your treatment goals, some bumpy, others smooth.

Like a tour guide who comes prepared to overcome potential barriers on the journey, we are trained to identify and help you overcome obstacles on your path to independence.

The key is that we navigate the way together, through those obstacles, to achieve your goals. And at the end, we stand together celebrating how far you’ve come.

What to Expect with 1 on 1 Direct Services

This is where we work towards your goals using the plan we developed during your assessment. Sessions are completed by either the Occupational Therapists or Therapy Assistants.

Each session is different based on your needs and the skills you are working on. At the core, all OT sessions are focused on practising skills in the places they will be used.

For one person we might meet in your kitchen to practice making tea. Another person might meet at a shopping centre to work on budgeting and following a list.

And remember, sessions aren’t just for participants! We encourage family to attend some therapy sessions to learn strategies and help with practising skills between visits.

Session length and the number of meetings per week are completely customised to your needs.

What is a Therapy Assistant

Therapy Assistants take the plan and put it into action over the hours and weeks it takes to build new skills.

Highly skilled at providing caring guidance and promoting independence, Therapy Assistants work under the supervision of our Occupational Therapists. When recommended by your OT, they are a cost-effective option to maximise your funding.

Our Therapists are happy to work with you to determine if working with an Assistant is the right option for you.

What to Expect for the Initial Assessments and Reports

These are not surface-level Assessments. We strive to really get to know you and your situation as fully as possible. That’s the only way to come up with a plan that is effective and targets your specific wants and goals.

Depending on your needs, the Assessment ranges from 2-3 hours and can be spread over 2 sessions.

Due to the thorough nature of these reports, it takes us up to 2 weeks to put together the final report with findings and recommendations.

The assessment typically includes:

Greeting and Meeting

You’re the most important part of this process! We meet and interact based on your comfort level and preferences. Ultimately, it’s our goal to understand you as a whole person.

Support Person Chat

It’s really helpful if a support person attends the initial Assessment to answer questions you might need help to answer.

Activity

We love actually doing activities as part of our Assessments. It’s a great way to better understand your abilities. Don’t worry. This isn’t a test to pass or fail. Instead, we simply try an activity together to get a sense of what we need to work on.

NDIS Funding

Our services are often funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The NDIS is provided to Australians under 65 who have a permanent and significant disability.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about using your NDIS funded OT services. We’re happy to answer any questions to assist you, your family, or NDIS Support Coordinators.

Private Pay for Occupational Therapy

Sometimes, getting the right services means a personal investment to reach your goals. We also offer fee-for-service private payment options (no referral required). Our fees vary depending on what level of support is needed.

If you have private health insurance, it’s always a good idea to check on what is covered in terms of occupational therapy.

We’re happy to provide a quote based on your specific needs.
